Where We
Are... Lunenberg, NS (01/15/02) - S/V Barbara Ann is
in beautiful Lunenberg harbor. We have a couple dings in the hull to
repair from overriding the dock in the sever storm of a couple days ago.
We also want to dive on the keel to be sure there was no damage from the
grounding during the storm. In a week
or
two we plan to move on to Halifax to wait for better weather before
continuing down to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, our home port. When conditions for
crossing the Gulf of Maine are a bit less strenuous, we'll make the 16 hour sail to Shelbourne, Nova Scotia, where we'll
wait for a weather window to bring her across to Portsmouth where we'll clear
customs. This could conceivably happen any time during the winter,
although, as we learned this week only too well, unpredicatable violent
storms are the norm for the next month or so. After spending a few days in New
Hampshire, we'll be moving on to Boston, where we'll be docked at Constitution
Marina in Charlestown, probably until spring, except for good sailing days in
Cape Cod Bay. |
